Took a trip up to the Caliente Railroad depot in Lincoln County, Nevada. It was built in 1923 for the then Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad which later became the Union Pacific. It is known for its Historic Mission Revival Style architecture. It was the division point between Salt Lake and Los Angeles for the steam locomotives and also acted as the maintenance headquarters for those trains. Later in the 1950’s when diesel replaced the steam locomotives Las Vegas became the new rail hub. After sitting vacant for a few years it was turned over to the City of Caliente and is now used for the city office.

Gold Butte History Pics
I was working on some pictures for one of my new projects which is working to record some of the historic places and stories in and around Gold Butte. These are some of the pictures I worked on. I used the one of the windmill at Azure Ridge for that banner. If you get time check out

If you have stories, old pictures, or know of books that talk about Gold Butte then send them my way. The goal of the project is to preserve the history to these places by bringing attention to their significance.
