Caliente Train Depot

Took a trip up to the Caliente Railroad depot in Lincoln County, Nevada. It was built in 1923 for the then Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad which later became the Union Pacific. It is known for its Historic Mission Revival Style architecture. It was the division point between Salt Lake and Los Angeles for the steam locomotives and also acted as the maintenance headquarters for those trains. Later in the 1950’s when diesel replaced the steam locomotives Las Vegas became the new rail hub. After sitting vacant for a few years it was turned over to the City of Caliente and is now used for the city office.
